Mike Weeks captures first victory of 2025 at Wartburg Speedway

Veteran Driver Banks $1,000 for First Win of 2025 Season

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (09/23/25) – Mike Weeks made his maiden voyage to victory lane this past weekend at Wartburg Speedway in his Schubert Monument Sales / Superior Telecom No. 22 Rocket Chassis Late Model, powered by a B&B Race Engine.

Weeks, the two-time and reigning Late Model track champion at Wartburg, outran pole-sitter Drew Kennedy in the 25-lap feature to secure a $1,000 payday in the third annual Benny Duncan Memorial.

Saturday’s win marked the 177th victory of Weeks' storied career, which began in 1992.

“This new XR1.2 Rocket Chassis has been flawless since we broke it out earlier this year — it’s been an absolute joy to drive,” Weeks said in Victory Lane. “We’ve had a lot of support with this car, and I want to give a big thanks to everyone at Rocket — Kurt, Steve, and the whole team. Their help has meant a lot to our program.”
The familiar 3/8-mile oval in Wartburg, Tennessee, served as the site of Weeks’ lone start over the weekend, where he joined a strong Late Model field for the annual event. After earning a front-row starting spot for the main event via his time trial effort, Weeks jumped out to the lead on the opening lap, slipping past Kennedy to take command. From there, he never looked back, leading all 25 laps and finishing ahead of Kennedy and third-place finisher Glenn Vanover.

For Weeks, checking off the first win of the season always brings a sense of accomplishment.

“Getting that first win of the season always feels good,” he added. “I want to thank my wife, my crew, our sponsors, and of course, the man above for keeping us safe. This is a total team effort, and I’m just really grateful for everyone who helps make this possible.”

Weeks is still finalizing his upcoming racing schedule, but has confirmed plans to compete in the upcoming King of the Mountain at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Corbin, Kentucky. The $10,000-to-win show is set for Saturday, October 18.
